Greenpoint Seeds Chem 34

February 22, 2016 HT/KTP

Origins and Backstory: I bought these as testers from Greenpoint Seeds during their first release.  Chem 34 is Famine x Stardawg.  Famine is originally from Illuminati Seeds, and its full lineage looks like this: Chem 3 x (Abusive OG/West Coast Dog).  I have seen Chem 3 hybrids excel before, and have no experience with the West Coast Dog.  The genetics intrigued me and I thought they would exhibit heavy Chem traits, so I germinated them as part of the Sour Chem project.

Appearance:  Phenotypes varied, but all were extraordinary resin producers.  One phenotype was more stout in structure, and put out fist-sized chunky floral clusters.  Other phenotypes grew taller with finger-like buds that practically oozed cannabinoids.  These nuggets always impress friends as they are so dense, chunky, and absolutely caked in resin.  These flowers consistently make eyes into dinner plates.

Aroma:  The aroma of the Chem 34 phenotypes was similar across the board.  Very Chemdog-apparent, these flowers smelled of sour lemon, bitter lemon peel, chlorine bleach, lysol, bromine, watered-down lemon warhead candies, and other strange cleaning agents.  The aroma reminded me of walking past one of the hotel cleaner's carts in the hallway, or what the janitor smelled like in elementary school.  There is also a strong lemon character that is very sour and slightly bitter, very reminiscent of warhead candies.  This is like a lemon-cleaner side of Chemdog without much fuel or gasoline.  A spectacular lemon cleaner-centric take on Chemdog.

Flavor: Chem 34 gets all the best of the Chemdog genetic line wrapped up in her flavor.  Chem 3 contributes bleach, chlorine, and mild lemon flavors, while the Chem 4 lends nail polish, solvent, and some fuel smells.  The great-grandmother of this cross, Abusive OG, is even noticed.  It could be the Chem 4 as well, but there are tones of fuel and the signature lemon pinesol of OG Kush.  Chem D from the Stardawg line is also prevalent, giving this herb an overhwelmingly sour, dank, skunky, almost-nasty odor.  To sum up the flavor, this is a sweet and skunky lemon bleach cleaner smoke.  It is incredibly satisfying and invites smoking a lot of this herb.

Effects:  This is a deadly-potent OG-Chemdog hybrid that leans heavily to the Chem side of things.  A face-smasher of the highest order, this is sure to impress any and every head.  She is satisfying and incredibly strong.  While her full effects take some time to fully manifest, this is the kind of herb that will put beads of sweat on your forehead, and you have to take a seat for a minute while your blood pressure changes.  This is a warm, complete and total mind-body stone that would knock an elephant out.  She is sedative but also perspective-changing and interesting.  Very introspective, this ganja is not recommended for social situations.  This mind-warper is perfect for snowy nights in or epic movies.  It is fairly imaginative, creative, and fun.  You just need to make sure to write down any ideas that pop up, as they will be nearly-immediately forgotten. Your mind slowly drifts from interesting thought to interesting thought, like cloudson a mellow day.  I personally enjoyed this ganja during our most recent Super Bowl.  I was not as interested in the actual game as I was in the whole production of the thing, and the context that the Super Bowl and all its parts take in our society.  It was mind-blowing to say the least, and I couldn't believe what humanity had turned into as I watched fireballs spewing out of the ground behind gorgeous women dressed in sequins with plastic smiles and choreographed dance.  This story should illustrate how this flower effects the mind.  This period of intense curiosity and couch-lock is followed up with overpowering drowsiness, red eyes, and laughs from friends as they think you are ridiculous.  This is giggly herb, so you will probably chuckle at yourself as you fall asleep.

Overall Experience:  Simply an amazing indica.  This is an incredible Chemdog leaning cross that exhibits traits from Chem 3, Chem 4, Chem D, and even a trait or two of the OG line.  Her appearance is incredible, and seems to improve upon most other Chemdog hybrids.  Her perfectly dense and chunky buds glisten with copious resin, and the sour lemon Chemdog cleaner aroma is even more compelling.  This plant is deadly potent, and can cut through any effect from previous smoke during the day.  The bleachy lemon cleaner flavor is enticing and invites overindulgence.  Overindulging should be done carefully however, as this puckering flower will knock your body down so your mind can travel.  This is mind-blowing, stupefying, sedating, and fun flower that has all of the best flavors from the Chemdog lines, and is guaranteed to hit hard enough to satisfy anyone.  This is a must-try for those who appreciate potency and hard-hitting effects, or just enthusiasts of the Sour and Chemdog clones.  An amazing representation of the overall Chemdog genetic line, this is an all-time favorite smoke of mine.

Hollywood Pure Kush

February 21, 2016 HT/KTP

Origins and Backstory: One of the classic Kush varieties coming from California, this plant is very similar to the Bubba Kush, SoCal Master Kush, and Suge Pure Kush.  She has been passed around for over 20 years and is still known to be an elite clone-only.  Her original birthplace is most likely from mountainous areas of hashish-producing regions in the middle-east, or she is some sort of hybrid of varieties from these same areas.

Appearance: Pure Kush puts out golf-ball shaped buds that are dense and covered in resin.  Once one has seen and handled the buds, they can be recognized anywhere.  Very stout and dense, the tops never protrude into the spearhead or pine cone shape.  This plant will develop a very slight purple tint if exposed to low temperatures consistently at the end of harvest, but almost always ends up light green, nearly identical to the nugget pictured above.

Aroma:  This is one of the first plans to really define the aroma and flavor of "Kush."  It is a spicy and very hashy aroma, with strong skunk notes from the strains so lovingly-selected in the '80s and 90's. This plant is a sweeter skunky smell than a Chemdog, but is much skunkier than many other varieties boasting the "skunk" nomenclature.  She smells of exotic spices and old musty places like basements and dank carpets, notes that can be found in nearly any typical Kush variety.  This particular Kush plant has nuances of marshmallow and vanilla.  Hints of spearmint are in the background as well.  I think the easiest thing to identify Hollywood Pure Kush from the other Kushes is the marshmallow, vanilla, and spearmint that is so prevalent and unique.  This musty, kushy plant has a trademark aroma that brings back relaxed beach-vibe memories when I inhale from a jar.

Flavor: Very similar to her aroma, the Pure Kush is a musty, skunky and dank variety with strong flavors of old-world traditional hashish and marshmallow spice.  It is sweet and vanilla can be noted more subtly.  The spice and hash flavors come first and most upfront, with marshmallow somewhere as a midtone. Exhales can have very light mint accents, and are followed up by a skunky flavor lingering on the palate.  Very enjoyable, this flavor is consistent with this variety.  It is hard to tell if I enjoy the flavor in its own rite, or because I associate it with the relaxed, happy effects.

Effects:  Very mellow and relaxing, this is a classic California Kush variety.  It is not overwhelmingly potent, but certainly strong enough to satisfy.  The effect is mildly sedating, but overall very pleasant, enjoyable, and laid back.  Despite the strength and indica-like character, these flowers will still have a functional effect.  Because the smoke is so relaxing, issues like paranoia, racing heart, etc. never become problems, even after overindulging.  This herb is very easy-going, relaxing, and pleasant.  It is not psychedelic in the slightest, and has a mellowing effect in the head, and nothing more.  Great for hanging out with friends at outdoor activities like camping or barbecuing because of its chill, mellow, happy nature.  This plant just puts out chill, happy, relaxed, no-problem-here vibes.

Overall Experience:  I love this plant and I'm certainly not alone in this sentiment; it is still being passed around and bred with after over 20 years of cultivation.  This particular Kush variety is spicy, hashy, and has uniquely beautiful flavors and aromas that bring marshmallow, vanilla, and hashish to mind.  The signature shape and aroma of the flowers always get me excited to just chill out and relax.  The smoke from Hollywood Pure Kush is such a classic and is a fun, enjoyable indica on sunny social days.  It is also good for pain management, insomnia, and other illnesses that are typically addressed by indicas, but seems to avoid the dulling or out-of-this-world feelings that can come from overwhelmingly-potent varieties.  Hollywood Pure Kush and her sisters will hopefully remain in the cannabis gene pool for years to come.

Gorilla Glue #4

February 20, 2016 HT/KTP

Origins and Backstory: Bred by a grower known as Joesy Wales, Gorilla Glue #4 is a clone-only cultivar named after its extreme stickiness.  It is unclear to me whether the strain is a cross of Chem Sis x Sour Dubb, or if it is a three-way cross of Chem Sis, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel.  However, it is basically the accidental product of home-growing from a group in the northwest.  It has become famous with extreme quickness.

Appearance: Extremely resinous, GG4 is known for its near-white appearance that makes it so appealing.  It occasionally shoots out stacking towers of calyxes on top of the buds in a trademark sort of way.  GG4 is as frosty as could be, and is very visually pleasing.

Aroma:  Gorilla Glue 4 in my garden came out to be sour, chemmy, with notes of chocolate, diesel fuel, and lemons. A jar reminds me of a well-done Mexican mole sauce, and chocolate biscotti.  It is hashy, spicy, sweet, sour like milk gone bad, a bit acrid, with heavy notes of chocolate.  It is a bit musty, reminding me of old basement and carpeting.

Flavor: It tastes almost exactly as it smells.  It is sweet, sour, chem-like, with some background notes of chocolate.  When smoked, the flavor seems to lose a bit of its complexity, with the Mexican mole spice not really noticeable.  It still retains multiple dimensions of flavor though, and is an enjoyable sweet and sour smoke. The chocolate isn't overwhelming, and it would be interesting to see Gorilla Glue selected for chocolate scent.  I really love the chocolate in the aroma of the Glue, and would love to see some breeding done to highlight that trait.

Effects:  Coming on immediately, Gorilla Glue is good day smoke for veterans.  It is mostly in the head, and is somewhat inspiring actually.  It can be a bit nervous but is mostly relaxed, fun, easygoing, pleasant, and fairly functional.  It is potent enough to be satisfying smoke and is not overwhelming.  It feels great on a summer day, and is good herb for relaxing outside in a hammock or on the beach.  You could even get active and hike around, surf, etc. but I would prefer a haze or more sativa-dominant plant for more active endeavors.  Very enjoyable, mildly creative, and motivating.  This flower makes me want to move a bit and get things done, and then makes relaxing easy when it's all over.  Those who associate extreme frost with potency will be disappointed though, as a Chemdog or OG variety will hit harder than this plant every day of the year.

Overall Experience:  Gorilla Glue #4 has a lot of hype behind it, and it is clearly a commercial strain.  It appears to be absolutely covered and dominated by resin, and has an attractively offensive and unique scent that catches attention.  Coupled with high yields, it is no wonder why this variety has made its way around growing circles so quickly.  However, I do not find it to be exceptional connoisseur smoke. I like the flavor, and the effects are enjoyable.  However, there is nothing spectacular or unique about the effects in any way.  If you're growing this strain, it is probably for the excellent bag appeal and decent character of effect.  Great commercial strain and is sure to wow your friends with resin, but Gorilla Glue is not a game-changing mind-dazzler.

East Coast Sour Diesel

February 19, 2016 HT/KTP

A couple sterile male flowers can be spotted in these distinctively Sour-D flowers (Sour D has a unique look), due to the cut being taken further into flower than most gardens.

Origins and Backstory: There is so much controversy pertaining to Sour Diesel now.  We also grow the AJ's Sour Diesel, which is a different cut than ECSD.  Rezdog also did some breeding with a plant he calls Sour Diesel but does not resemble the ECSD or AJ cut very accurately.  I have been told they set the story straight on the whole Sour Diesel story and origins on the Adam Dunn Show, but have not looked into it personally.  In any case, this is a Diesel plant that is obviously closely related to the Chemdog genetic line, and it comes from the east coast of the US.

Appearance: The ECSD has a trademark look to her.  The pistils are lighter, sometimes even pink, light orange, but never getting to fire-engine red.  The leaves on ECSD typically stay dark green even close to harvest, and it creates a signature look of dark green leaves, lime green bud, and bright pistils in long, fingerling shapes.

Aroma:  Skunky, offensive, and dank.  She is very similar to the Chemdog line, but seems to be a bit more lemony.  There are definite fuel tones (hence the name "Diesel") and is indeed sour lemon peel on the nose as well.  ECSD is like a sour lemon warhead version of Chemdog, with less emphasis on the motor oil, grease, and mechanic shop smells.  A sour lemon aroma dominates alongside pungent country road skunk and heady, fuely, fume-like scents.  I'd swear this ganja puts off fumes from the flower, and is definitely not covert.  When buds are broken up, the scent is intensified and sour fuel notes are definitely emphasized.

Flavor:  You'd probably think you inhaled some sort of mechanic's cleaner if you didn't know any better.  The flavor is a lot more diesel than anything else, which crinkles the nose and hits the back of the throat hard.  The smoke is sharp and immediately sour-lemon-fuel.  It tastes like lemon warhead candies mixed with diesel fuel and maybe some sugar removed.  This is wild stuff, and there is no wonder why this clone is so sought-after.

Effects:  Like the flavor, the effects of the ECSD are notable as well.  It is more head-oriented than the rest of the Chem family, and seems to be almost electric at times.  It is very strong smoke that satisfies nearly any head, but isn't too debilitating or sedating.  The potency can make you a bit confused, but for the most part this ganja inspires creativity and is for getting up and going.  I seem to get good thinking done on this herb, and have enhanced idea-generation.  This is a potent pick me up that even hardcore OG and Chem lovers could appreciate.  It seems to be strong and satisfying without being devastating. The effect is long-lasting too, coming down into a mellowed out, mildly dreamy state, where more ECSD seems like a pretty good idea.

Overall Experience:  One of the many sour-themed clones, ECSD is one of the most coveted cultivars available.  It has been around nearly as long as Chemdog, almost 20 years.  This fact alone is testament to the value of this plant.  The nose on the ECSD is intriguing to say the least, and seems to match the effect.  The electric lemon diesel smoke seems to invigorate the body while still zapping the mind with the joy of cannabinoids.  This plant is an all-around pleaser.  I might be critical, but I think this clone could use some invigoration from other genetic lines, and I think it could make some incredible hybrids.  Solid smoke on its own, but I tend to reach for other jars instead.

Greenpoint Seeds Copper Chem

February 18, 2016 HT/KTP

Origins and Backstory: I bought these in the first round of releases from Greenpoint Seeds.  Copper Chem is an incredible cross of Chem 4 and a Stardawg male, making it a Chem 4 backcross.  I popped the whole pack as part of a Sour Chem project to breed further.

Appearance:  Phenotypes ranged from purple calyx clusters to pistil-dominated dark-green floral clusters.  Personally, my favorite was a phenotype that settled somewhere in the middle.  Dark green with purple accents and bright red pistils, she is covered in resin and absolutely stunning.  She reminds me of Chemdog bags I would get in the early 2000s in the mountain towns of Colorado.

Aroma:  This is the epitome of Chemdog.  Notes of gasoline, motor oil, gear grease, pinesol cleaner, sour lemon rind, rotten lime peel, diesel fuel, nail polish remover, acetone, and sour rye bread are prevalent among the different phenotypes.  Each plant displayed its own biases--one was very much a sour lemon pinesol cleaner with nail polish remover, while another phenotype heavily expressed gasoline, diesel, and sour rye bread.  I had a very hard time picking a keeper, as all phenotypes were something to be desired.  Very stinky herb, it is even more potent when combusted.  This smells like classic old school dank when it's burned.  The uninitiated complain of an offensive rotting-dead-body-skunk odor.  The nose from this one is incredibly powerful, loved by veteran potheads and abhorred by republicans.

Flavor: The flavor is complex, with strong lemon peel bitterness and a velvety-seeming nail polish remover leading the way.  This is followed by a sweet, skunky dank flavor coating the whole mouth, with notes of gasoline and distinct diesel lingering on the tongue.  There is really a lot going on, and all of it is intriguing and pleasant.  All phenotypes remind me of the bags of Chemdog weed I bought as a teenager.  This is a great example of what comes to mind when I hear "dank." I could briefly sum the flavor up as sweet 'n sour lemon peel janitor's closet oil spill cave. This is phenomenally flavored ganja.

Effects:  Copper Chem is very body oriented, and is a very sedating flower.  It hits hard, immediately, and is very euphoric but a bit dulling.  It is how I would imagine opiates.  Dreamy and mellowing, the effect of copper chem is very pleasant but not so functional.  The whole of the experience in one word would be 'pleasant,' and it becomes immediately clear why the entire Chemdog genetic line and its descendants are so highly-favored.  The experience is probably pretty universally loved.  Thoughts become more interesting, and new perspectives and philosophies rear their heads.  It becomes easier to relate to others, and rational thoughts become abundantly clear.  However, this is dreamy herb, the kind that needs *DO NOT OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY* stickers slapped all over it.  It's potency is nearly unparalleled (save for OGs and other Chemdog varieties) and very much has effects that are drug-like.  All in all a lovely, warm, sedating experience.  Very enjoyable, but not much for engaging in social situations or physical activities.

Overall Experience:  The Chemdog genetic line is some of the most coveted in all of cannabis, and this inbred version is an amazing representation of the entire Chemdog family.  Chem lovers will rejoice over this strain and genetics being available in seed form.  Females capture the incredible essence of Chemdog, the fuel-chemical-sour character that has stoners puckering up everywhere.  The bouquet of the Chemdog clone is preserved and maybe even improved on in this cross, giving these beautiful flowers their extraordinarily heady flavor.  The flavor, however beautiful, is just the beginning.  The warm, happy, sweet effect from these flowers is enticing and dream-like, providing a sort of sedating, trippy experience.  It is felt strongly in the body, providing pain relief but also causing drowsiness.  The smoke yields a slight grin, little red eyes, and a sweet, happy disposition.  I frequently forget things and can be a bit clumsy after smoking this one due to its potency, and I never seem to get any real work done after imbibing with this one.  I even fell asleep on 'movie night' about 20 minutes in.  While drowsy, Chemdog is perhaps a perfect indica, and has dominated the cannabis scene for the past 20 years with good reason.

Amnesia Haze

February 17, 2016 HT/KTP

Seeded Amnesia Haze flowers show their spikey fingerling structure.

Origins and Backstory:  First bred in Amsterdam, many clones and seeds of this variety are available stateside.  The clone I was able to source is famed around Colorado as the Amnesia Haze, and for good reason.  She has won the cannabis cup as a spectacular sativa, and is an ancestor of the award-winning Moonshine Haze from Rare Dankness.

Appearance:  While all-around stunning, the appearance of Amnesia Haze is the first trait to raise eyebrows.  Flowers look like skinny spear-tips, bright green with copious resin covering the calyxes.  Fire-engine red pistils protrude from the flowers, giving the appearance of flaming buds.  She looks like a well-adapted indoor sativa, with huge calyxes and surprisingly-dense floral clusters.  Her look is like a haze-leaning Jack Herer; elongated spear tips of lime-green with bright red accents certainly impress.

Aroma:  The aroma of Amnesia Haze is its most spectacular trait.  Bursting with flavor, an open jar is almost overwhelmingly-sweet, and the reaction from smokers is remarkably consistent when smelling: "whoa."  It reminds me of bubblelicious bubblegum, bazooka joe, old french cheeses, hotel fruit baskets, earthy forest floor, and honestly, Amsterdam in general.  For any smokers familiar with typical Haze flowers, Amnesia does not fall far from the tree.  Amnesia however has less sandalwood, spice, and herbal tones that I typically associate with Hazes.  It has clearly been bred and selected for the sweet candied side of things, and smells like some sort of exotic alien dessert.  It is very difficult to put your finger on exact tones with this variety, but some fruits I can detect are nectarine and unripe peach.  A mild buttery flavor is in the background like popcorn and aged soft cheese.  The real essence of this weedis like a child's perfume.  It is truly bizarre and incredible that something from nature smells like this.

Flavor:  The aroma somewhat translates to flavor, but some nuances are left by the wayside.  The flavor is very much sweet and fruity, slightly sour.  It is a nose-tingling unique flavor that will keep the user coming back again and again.  The flavor is sweet and sour like a nectarine or early-picked peach, and reminds me of Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish candy.  The notes of old cheese are missing entirely, and bubblegum drops to a faint background tone.  The flavor is more hazy than the aroma, but is still sweeter than traditional Hazes.  It definitely contains sandalwood, moss, and other notes that simply defy description.   There is also some black pepper.  One of the most intriguing aspects of this flower is that the smell and flavor are so unique that they are not found outside of cannabis, and cannot even be described.

Effects:  Amnesia Haze is one that has to be respected.  It is a sativa, which sometimes veterans mistakenly associate with weak or underwhelming effects.  This is not the case with Amnesia, or any Hazes in my experience.  Amnesia Haze, when ideally dosed, provides a mildly trippy experience that is bright, uplifting, happy, and positive.  It has provided me with a positive perspective of my relationship after an argument, and completely brought me around on a point.  It seems to heal up emotional wounds and is very positive--almost like an optimist is whispering in your ear.  Amnesia enhances creativity and can even be motivating as well.  For example, it motivated me to get back to blogging!  I love the zippy sort of feeling it gives, not felt in the body like so many sedating indica plants.  This plant is powerfully uplifting and active, almost like coffee.  It is easy to overdo this flower though, because the flavor is so amazing.  If you chase the flavor, you will find yourself with all of the above effects, as well as some heart-racing paranoia, social awkwardness, racing thoughts, incessant planning, etc.  She is surprisingly potent, and deserves to be used in moderation for ideal effects.  Amnesia Haze is ideal for creative and active endeavors, and would not serve one well with insomnia or something.  Excellent for outdoors, artwork, or just opening up a happier perspective on things.

Overall Experience:  Amnesia Haze is a delicious product of Amsterdam breeding and genetics, and is very deserving of all the fame she receives.  Even this strain is "Amsterdamized", becoming sweeter, fruitier, and less of what I would traditionally call "dank."  However, I think in this rare case, it works to the favor of Amnesia Haze.  She is so positive, uplifting, and bright, it seems that her aroma and bouquet perfectly match the effects.  Everything about this flower is uplifting, happy, beautiful, and positive.  I love her flavor and it keeps me coming back, but overindulging in potent sativas is usually not fun.  More than a bowl, and my heart will race, I become paranoid about almost everything, and social situations become dangerous to navigate.  They almost become like obstacles to be avoided or worked through, but are not really pleasurable.  With a light dose though, and social situations become unusually interesting, engaging, and satisfying.  It seems dose is very important with this strain.  Overall, this is a nearly-ideal sativa that will keep me coming back for its consistent day-brightening and positive effects.

Higher Thought Mos Eisley Special

October 29, 2015 HT/KTP

Origin/Backstory:  The genetics on this one are Old Time Moonshine x Greedo’s Stash. Old Time Moonshine is an original and limited release strain from DJ Short.  The seeds I received are one step down in the filial generation, and inbred release from Mosca Seeds.  I had a female that was particularly floral and berry-flavored with incredible anxiolytic effects.  This female was bred to my Greedo's Stash male, selected for his structure, vigor, scent, and potency.  This particular sample was grown by a friend kind enough to test the seeds.

Appearance:  The flowers of this variety are simply stunning.  As pictured, they contain amazingly dark-purple and almost blue hues, along with greens and brown pistils.  The calyxes are gigantic and swollen at peak ripeness.  The flowers look like chunky hand-carved neolithic spear-heads in their shape.  Trimming is relatively easy, the flowers having a high calyx-to-leaf ratio.  Resin content is high, but I would not categorize it as "extreme" or "copious".  All in all, a colorful and gorgeous flower.

Aroma:  The aroma of this sample is simultaneously complex and subtle.  It is not remotely overwhelming, and a bag in your pocket will not tip off everyone around you that you are currently possessing cannabis.  However, it contains a great deal of complexity.  Very floral in nature, notes of lilac, geranium, and even mild rose can be noted.  There is a muddled sort of pomegranate or berry flavor as well that seems to mix with the spiciness that is recognizable from the Greedo's Stash male.  Tones of juniper and old-world hashish are prominent among the floral notes.  While mild, the aroma will impress those looking for unique and unusual varieties.

Flavor: Like the aroma, the flavor is subdued but intriguing and stimulating at the same time.  It is mostly floral, with strong tones of lilac and aftershave.  Dark berry (blue, black) is noted and surprisingly, a skunky flavor overtakes the palate shortly afterward.  The skunkiness lingers amongst mild spice tones of juniper and hash.  Overall, a solid translation from aroma to flavor.

Effects:  This one is definitely indica-dominant in its effects.  The anxiolytic effects of the OTM mom are readily apparent, but are nicely balanced by the narcotic potency of the Greedo's Stash.  She comes on slow and smooth, enticing the smoker to indulge deeper into its effects.  It slowly ramps up into a deep, couch-locking stone reminiscent of Bodhi's Snowlotus hybrids.  The difference is that the effect is never overwhelming, and is deeply relaxing.  It is felt deep in the body as well as the mind, providing a soft, pillow-like experience devoid of any anxieties.  Very mellow and chilled out, the experience will probably not please OG and Diesel lovers who are begging to get their skulls crushed with potency.  While indica-dominant, one can remain socially engaging after smoking this flower, due to the lack of anxiety.

Overall Experience: This mellow, easy-going, and relaxed flower is complimented by unusual floral/berry aromas and an absolutely stunning visual appearance.  The gorgeous purple and blue tones are immediately striking, but the mild aroma could leave the experience wanting for some.  For the connoisseur, the complexity and unique depth of the aroma could be enough.  This is definitely evening smoke, excellent for a nightcap or smoking with intimate company in a relaxed and private setting.  I would be very intrigued to see what other phenotypes remain in this genetic combination as it seems like the potential is there.

Higher Thought Polstine Spice

October 29, 2015 HT/KTP

Classic lime-green, trichome-encrusted herb with firey pistils.

Origin/Backstory:  This incredible cross is from two of my favorite parents of all time, the 707 Headband cut and Greedo's Stash, a Bodhi Seeds strain.  The 707 Headband hails from the 707 area code in northern California, and is rumored to be an OG Kush x Sour Diesel.  This is believable considering the extreme skunky, fuel tones of this variety.   I personally selected the Greedo's Stash male from a full pack for his vigor and intensely spicey aroma.

Appearance:  This herb is some of the prettiest flower around.  It is extremely resinous, and has perfectly-shaped/structured pine cone buds.  The dense buds are a lime-green covered by a near golden layer of resin.  Red and orange pistils or "hairs" are abundant, showing maturity of the flower sample.  It also makes for a striking bag appeal, alluring any and all cannabis enthusiasts.

Aroma:  The scent profile of this variety is certainly interesting.  Incredibly diverse and uniquely tantalizing, it is a complete combination of both parents.  Very strong and noticeable are lemon, Lipton iced tea, rye bread, and skunk.  Gasoline and diesel are present along with gin and juniper notes, heavy hash spice, and other exotic spices which defy description.  It is diverse and deep, but the lemon, iced tea, rye, and skunk bouquet is very dominating.  The other scents can be detected only after breaking open flowers, releasing the volatile terpenes into the air.

Flavor:  The flavor is possibly the highest point of this variety.  It is an incredible representation of the aroma, carrying through each and every flavor described above.  However, the background spices, juniper, and elderberry flavors become more noticeable when smoked.  Lemon, skunk, and fuel flavors come in equally alongside the heavy and exotic tones of spice and alien baked goods. No flavor dominates, and each note can be sensed and articulated without straining.  It is really quite something, extremely potent and strong in flavor alone.  Long after smoking, a skunky-fuel flavor coats the mouth and palate.  A joy to taste and smoke on flavor alone.

Effects:  It can be uncomfortable to have ganja that is as potent as it is delicious, because overindulgence becomes so easy.  This is one of those varieties.  Incredibly strong, this flower is a head-nodding powerhouse of the highest order.  It will have one dozing off into a very pleasant and comfortable opium-like dream of euphoria and fascination of thought.  I would say that this is philosopher's smoke if it did not guarantee sleep!  This strain also seemed to make me very forgetful.  I would assure myself that I would remember certain details and appointments only to forget minutes later.  This is definitely a body-calming mind-warping strain that is extremely satisfying as a nightcap.  It is a problem to smoke this during the day, as it will lead to a nap, or at the least will probably kill motivation.  This is definitely not "go out and do things" weed.

Overall Experience: I am incredibly impressed with this variety.  The original 707 Headband clone has serious potential as a clone-only and as a breeder.  The overwhelmingly, rye bread, skunk-fuel aroma and flavor is a timeless favorite of so many cannabis veterans, and expresses itself well in this cross.  The effect of the 707 cut is strong, but the Greedo's Stash male adds a level of potency that is unprecedented, even in the infamous Headband genetic lines.  This variety is a superbly-flavorful indica-dominant option for Headband lovers.  While Diesel purists may shrug off any dilutions of the original strains, this F1 hybrid actually improves on the original.  While retaining meracious diesel flavors, it adds complexity and depth to the flavor, and a dreamy indica effect that has yet to disappoint.  I will be searching this cross further for more potential.

Lotus Larry x Sunshine Daydream

September 24, 2015 HT/KTP

Origin/Backstory:  Seeds of this variety were given to me by @alohagrown420.  These seeds were produced in Hawaii.  Both Lotus Larry and Sunshine Daydream are from Bodhi Seeds, and none are related to one another in the slightest.  This creates a pretty complex polyhybrid, allowing for instability.  This would normally be considered a no-no in breeding, as it does not purposefully lock down any desirable traits.  However, all of the parentage is of such a high caliber that the progeny are nearly guaranteed to be of excellent quality.  In my case, I was just looking for some unique cannabis--it didn't matter whether or not it had specific traits.

Appearance:  Very chunky, the platinum-blue colored flowers from this incredibly resinous variety tend to spike and stack on top of each other, very similar to Gorilla Glue #4.  Trichomes glisten all over the flower, making it appear like a Christmas ornament in the sun.  Above-average size calyxes stack on top of one another into fat, chunky, pine-cone like flowers. Small leaves are found all over, difficult to trim out.  Even these leaflets are appetizing to the connoisseur however, and are gladly packed in a bowl with the flower itself.  Very high bag appeal.

Aroma:  While mild, this particular variety has a lot of depth and complexity.  Sour blueberries, old basement, and brewer's/cereal grains dominate the foremost nose.  It is mildly sweet, but more of a been-wet-for-a-day-carpet sort of sourness is noted.  Other middle-ground tones of stinky, funky, french cheese and sour ale are met with iron, copper, and other metallic scents.  While not overwhelming when inhaling from a jar, an opened jar can be sniffed across the room nearly instantly in the form of super fresh, old-school, raw, skunky cannabis.

Flavor: Mild like the aroma, the sour ale, brewer grains, and mild berry notes make their way into the flavor.  Depth and complexity is lost in the translation unfortunately, and not much of the funky cheese and skunk make it through into the flavor.  All in all, not the most intense experience.

Effects:  While Lotus Larry x Sunshine Daydream (what a mouthful!) comes on immediately, it also creeps into a full effect after about 25-35 minutes.  Within seconds of exhaling, the user immediately feels a very dreamy effect come on.  Mild euphoria couples with relaxation, anti-anxiety effects, and a sedation--I would imagine this variety would have quite a bit of medical potential for nerve issues.  Bodhi himself describes Sunshine Daydream as a "nervous system harmonizer."  I can absolutely see why, and imagine that the effects of SD are dominant in this hybrid.  It is very much calming and grounding, thrusting a user deeply into their bodies and minds.  An increased awareness and sensitivity of the bodily aches and pains is more prevalent, but they are paradoxically numbed and calmed at the same time.  It is a really unique effect, but subtle as well.  Felt behind the eyes strongly, I would imagine this would be a great variety for glaucoma as well.

Overall Experience:  This particular phenotype of Lotus Larry x Sunshine Daydream seemed to lean toward Sunshine Daydream, but I wonder if it was really improved on.  The resin, potency, and bag appeal is of excellent quality, with an interesting nose.  However, the mild scent does not come through in flavor much at all, giving this variety a fairly one-dimensional experience.   I also would argue the effects of this strain are more medicinal than recreational.  While this is incredibly valuable, I don't find it to be my favorite effect.  It is numbing both in mind and body, while also increasing certain aspects of one's awareness.  I would rather smoke more of a sativa variety and remain lucid and interested in the world, but can certainly see why someone would want or need the opposite.  This strain sort of withdraws the user from the world, thrusting them inward to themselves.  All in all a decent experience, but not my favorite.

Headband x Lemon Zinger

September 10, 2015 HT/KTP

Cured for 6 months, the potency of these flowers is marginally diminished.  However, the bouquet and flavor could not be better.

Origin/Backstory:  I was gifted several seeds from @alohagrown420, created all the way in Hawaii.  While not sure which Headband cut was used, Lemon Zinger is an incredibly unique and terpene-filled variety from Bodhi Seeds.  I have found nearly anything with "Headband" in the name to be of extremely high quality.  The two plants create a beautiful marriage, and combine into one of the most unique varieties I have seen.  Although created in Hawaii, I grew her indoors organically in Colorado, like all of the other reviews.

Appearance:  Freshly harvested, buds are a vivid and robust lime green with massive calyxes stacked on top of one another, sometimes foxtailing--evidence of the Lemon Thai ancestry.  She appears somewhat airy, but upon further examination and breaking buds down, it is not the case.  Her calyxes are tightly and seemingly-carefully placed on top of one another.  She is also covered in beautiful glands with huge heads on them.   I wonder if she would be a good hash-maker?  The glands can be seen shimmering with the naked eye, scintillating as one rotates a bud in outdoor sunlight.  It is the classic look of high-quality cannabis, save for the unusually large calyxes and bracts.

Aroma:   While she shines in all categories, the Lemon Head Zinger has an incredibly complex and unique aroma.  Tropical, floral, and sweet, one immediately notices guava, papaya, and lemon in the forefront, without the bitterness of a lemon peel.  The guava flavor is extremely strong--I wonder if this is the genetics, or if this is more prevalent due to being bred outdoors in Hawaii?  Baby oil and baby powder are also very strong, along with pronounced background tones of fresh starfruit flesh.  It all comes together in what seems like an exotic and bizarre tropical fruit baby oil.  It is really something else.

Flavor:  Tropical guava, lemon citrus, and strong floral baby oil notes are entirely present when the smoke of this strain hits the palate.  Upon closing my eyes and really focusing, some sandalwood-like spice and mild starfruit flavors also became prevalent.  It is really a great reflection of nearly everything in the scent.  Mostly, it is a bright, bizarre, tropical citrus baby oil flavor that I've not experienced elsewhere in cannabis.  With this unique species, there's a first for everything!

Effects: A classic creeper, this flower takes a decent amount of time to really settle in to the user.  However, it is immediately euphoric and uplifting, being felt in the head and face.  Floating and optimistic thoughts occupy the mind, almost like a light dose of psychedelic mushrooms.  The Lemon Head Zinger is very potent, with experienced users preferring only 2-4 hits to get in the "sweet spot."  Textures and colors become more vivid and pronounced, inspiring one to go out and engage the world!  While most of these traits are associated with heart-racing and intense sativas, Lemon Head Zinger remains calm, sociable, and peaceful.  I found the rare combination of overwhelmingly-positive euphoria as well as serenity to be a real achievement in cannabis varietals.  As previously mentioned, this variety slowly transitions in effect and becomes stronger about 20-30 minutes into the experience.  The energetic aspect fades a bit and transitions into a more insightful and objectively-thoughtful streak.  This puts the user more inward than outward, providing insight into personal issues and providing for a more introspective feel later in the experience.  This eventually fades into a soft, mental pillow-like effect.  The finality of the experience settles into a less cerebral and heady experience, and is a little bit tiring.  However, it is far from an indica comedown, and is fairly seamless coming back into normal reality.

Overall Experience:  Pleasantly and powerfully stinky, delicious, borderline psychedelic, Lemon Head Zinger is an exceptional strain of cannabis.  She is potent enough to satisfy seasoned heads, but has enough lightness and benevolence to give a warm welcome to newbies.  Euphoric, positive, psychedelic, and calming aspects create a beautiful experience for the user.  All of the mental and physical effects are complimented by an extremely enticing olfactory experience, and the flavor is just as unique and pleasant to match.  Overall, Lemon Head Zinger is a living work of art.

Bodhi Seeds Roadkill Unicorn

September 10, 2015 HT/KTP

Bodhi's RKU is stunning in all respects--color, bag appeal and frost, and stench.  It burns to a ridiculously-clean white ash in the background in a Carver B pipe.

Origin/Backstory:  I received several packs of Road Kill Unicorn (RKU) when ordering some other bodhi seeds.  After seeing so much hype about this strain, I had to give it a shot.  I germinated 3 seeds and one turned out to be female.  I flowered this female out.  She is a cross of Purple Unicorn and Bodhi's famous Snowlotus male.  Purple Unicorn itself is an F1 hybrid of Chem D and Blackberry Widow.  I've never had the pleasure, but PU is Bodhi's personally favorite purple variety, which says a lot to me!  Snowlotus is known for contributing yield, frost, potency, bag appeal, and aromas containing candied floral grape blossom birthday cake notes.  How could I lose?

Appearance:  RKU has some of the most visually-stunning flowers I've seen from a cannabis plant.  All shades of purple and green cover the calyxes of this plant, while pistils are a pale reddish-peach color.  Yellow leaves from the "flush" or "fade" can be found covered by the sheen of resin over the top of the buds.  Nugs are visibly dense, and grow long chunky fingers of purple canna-candy.

Aroma:  RKU's bouquet is at least equally as enticing as its appearance.  If blind-folded, the uninitiated might have no idea they're even smelling cannabis flowers.  Sweet blackberry, elderberry, apple juice, and chocolate cake scents dominate the nose.  Vanilla and chai-like spices can be found in the background alongside notes of horse manure and barnyard.  The latter scents are strangely welcome, and seem to compliment the overall aroma.  RKU is also heavily floral, reminiscent of fruit orchard blossoms. The incredibly-alluring smell could overall be described as a sweet, candied chocolate-berry torte.  The aroma is exquisite and nearly intoxicating in its own rite.

Flavor:  While tasty and entertaining, the flavor is not quite as incredible as the scent. Still sweet and berry-like, the flavor is not as deep or complex as the aroma would lead one to believe.  The noticeable scents of hay, horse, and barnyard are transformed into a generic but pleasant sweetness.  Notes of chocolate are very subtle if still present at all.  Luckily, the notes of blossom can be strongly felt on the palate, contributing to a more well-rounded flavor, not limited to sweet berry alone.  Vanilla and perhaps some sort of alien spice can be tasted in the background as well.  Interesting, but nothing new.

Effects: Potent and narcotic, RKU is great for nights in, movies, rainy days, etc.  Medically speaking, RKU is effective for stimulating appetite, relaxing muscles, insomnia,, chronic pain, and many of the other ailments that are classically treated by typical drug indica varieties.  RKU starts strong in the head, letting the user know immediately that THC and other cannabinoids are indeed reaching their corresponding receptors in the brain--a head rush sometimes occurs, and can fool one into thinking RKU is mostly a euphoric and "up" strain.  This led me personally to overindulge, and I ended up in a couch-lock coma.  For recreational use, I think moderation is key.  The potency and narcotic-like effect is simply too intense and strong for an active, joyous, energy-filled day.  However, RKU is a wonderful choice for a nightcap or relaxing evening session with friends.  Conversation is stimulating until maybe an hour or so into the experience, where one seems to become more introspective and in their own head rather than being out in the world.  It gets to the point that engaging socially with others or trying to be productive feel like work rather than fun.  Obviously, I have to be careful when choosing to imbibe with Road Kill Unicorn.

Overall Experience:  There is good reason for the cult-like following and praise given to Road Kill Unicorn.  She is an extremely unique plant, easy to grow, and satisfying in every category.  I think she shines most in her appearance and aroma.  She seems to embody every color in the rainbow somewhere on or in her flowers and leaves, and has an equally diverse aroma to match.  Her sweet, candied, berry-chocolate-horse-manure bouquet is enticing, beautifully balanced, and allures every head I have seen encounter her.  However, I think that such a sweet and tasty assault on the olfactory senses can be misleading.  Overindulgence is far too easy due to her high potency and extreme effect--care should be taken!  Very valuable for medical purposes and cold winters, RKU is a great choice to have in a jar.  Not surprisingly, I'd mark this one as another win for Bodhi Seeds.

Greenpoint Seeds White Master x Monster Cookies

September 10, 2015 HT/KTP

Origin/Backstory:  With Greenpoint Seeds advertising some of the cheapest seeds in the business, I had to give them a shot.  I acquired a few of their Stardog and Monster Cookie hybrids.  I selected this particular cross looking for an "ultimate indica."  I certainly did not look in the wrong place!  I popped several seeds and got 1 female.  This is her, a great balance of both parents.

Appearance:  Gorgeously-sparkling, the flowers from this variety are chunky and dense, completely covered in white trichomes, and has spike-like calyxes protruding from the thin stems.  The calyx to leaf ratio is good.  The bright colors of light green buds and bright orange pistils combined with the extreme resin production of this strain gives it an extremely high bag appeal.  I'd put her up there with Gorilla Glue #4 and Krome's White cut.

Aroma:  The aroma of this strain is nothing short of amazing.  As enticing as a batch of freshly baked cookies, this strain contains a plethora of scents.  Notes reminiscent of both the White cut as well as Master Kush are in the forefront.  It is compost-like and mushroomy, while still maintaining very noticeable tones of middle eastern spice and hashish.  When one inhales deeper with eyes closed, one senses exotic spice, cookie dough, bitter lemon peels/lemon pledge, and strong roadkill skunk.  The lemon becomes more pronounced over a long cure and after breaking open flowers to pack a bowl or roll a joint.

Flavor: Beautifully translating to flavor, WMMC gives notes of bitter lemon peel and spicy hash-like flavors from the Master Kush.  Cookie dough and compost are present as well.  While rare for a strain's aroma to completely translate to flavor, WMMC does it.  This makes for a very satisfying and tasty joint.  It also gets the user excited to partake as the aroma becomes more pronounced and complex after flowers are broken apart.

Effects:  This strain feels just as an experienced user/grower would imagine.  She is very indica-dominant, providing mostly anti-anxiety and analgesic effects.  The effect can be felt very strongly in the body, providing powerful tingling and almost numbness throughout every extremity, and even thoroughly felt through all parts of the torso, neck, and abdomen.  These pain-killing effects are pronounced in the body and are very long-lived.  The peculiar and perhaps best aspect of this strain is that it does not inspire the user to sleep like so many other narcotic indicas.  I really like that I can enjoy this strain early in the day without requiring a nap or making me feel brain-dead for the rest of the day.  As someone with social anxiety, this is an amazing strain.  It is very relaxing and "chilling."  My only gripe is that it could use a touch more euphoria--however, it is extremely rare to find a strain that is equally euphoric as it is mellowing and calming.  Overall, this strain is great for laying low, feeling relaxed, or chilling out without any of the negative aspects of over-consumption (i.e. sleep, paranoia, social awkwardness).  I would also note that the potential medicinal value of this strain is off of the charts.

Overall Experience:  My jars of this strain are quickly disappearing as it becomes an increasingly-popular choice of mine.  The flavor is indeed satisfying and enjoyable, but is not incredibly unusual or exotic either.  Pot snobs who want unique and out-of-this-world flavors will most likely not find what they're looking for with this variety.  However, it contains many of the so-called tried and true flavors found in so many popular strains of cannabis.  This makes it satisfying for your average user.  The bag appeal of this strain is extreme both in visual as well as olfactory effect, and the yield for growers is relatively high.  In my opinion, White Master Monster Cookies (this thing needs a nickname!) shines in its effects.  I find the anxiety-quelling effects to be both medicinal as well as therapeutic, and has obvious recreational application as well.  I think this is a very rare combination of calming effects with the feel-good effects associated with cannabis.  This variety is a great example of what I would call an "all-purpose indica."  It has amazing potential for medical applications as well as therapeutic and recreational applications.  I will be germinating more of these seeds soon to find the ultimate chill pill of cannabis.

Bodhi Seeds Synergy

February 15, 2015 HT/KTP

Synergy shows off her pineapple chem trichomes after spending some time curing.

Origin/Backstory:  I received 5 of these seeds with my purchase of Greedo's Stash.  Synergy is a cross of Pinequeen and Bodhi's Appalachia male.  Pinequeen is from Sonic Seeds, a cross of a UK Pineapple clone and Shimla.  I can only assume Shimla is a landrace from the Shimla area in India.  Appalachia is Bodhi's famous Green Crack x Tres Dawg male, and I am under the impression that this male is now discontinued.  This makes the full lineage look like this: [(Shimla/UK Pineapple cut) x (Green Crack x Tres Dawg)].  Like the Moonwalk, I stupidly did not take cuts of Synergy either.  Luckily, I've since been gifted a full package of synergy courtesy of the Seed Vault of California aka Holistic Nursery.  I plan to look for a nice female when space is available.

Appearance:  Buds are somewhat loosely structured, pine-cone shaped with fox tail/dread lock tops.  The color is a green varying from bright lime to dark forest, and cold temperatures late into flower caused some purple accenting on the thin, sativa-like leaves.  This looks like some very fresh herb, even after spending months in a jar.  It just has that classic bag appeal.

Aroma:  Synergy's aroma is truly something beautiful, and its scent alone often enticed me to endulge.  Based on the smell, I would've named this strain "Pineapple Chem."  It is a sweet and fruity aroma, with heavy tropical notes accented by those of solvents.  Perhaps most noticeable is the unmistakable scent of sugar cookies and pineapple juice/syrup from a can.  It is nearly sickly-sweet, and some complexities behind the pineapple are noted as well: mango, starfruit, and orange zest.  The strong fruitiness is complimented by tones of fabric softener, silly putty, crude oil, velvet, skunk, and the classic chem smell.  If Chem were the equivalent of Coca-Cola or Pepsi, Synergy would analogously be one of the spin-offs, like Cherry Coke or some other "jazzed up" flavor.

Flavor:  Synergy's bouquet translates well into taste, allowing some complexities into the foreground.  The velvety, fabric softener seem to come forward as the pronounced fruitiness fades to midtones of tropical plants and classic skunk.  Some chemical flavors are present as well, but far from offensive or overwhelming.  The flavor is like some bright and fruity chem sativa, and is truly a delight for the connoisseur.

Effects:  Surprisingly bright, uplifting, and positive, Synergy quickly became my favorite "wake 'n bake" choice.  Somewhat dreamy, while remaining vibrantly euphoric.  Synergy creeps slowly into a giggly, super-happy, confident and springy-stepping high that lends optimistic thoughts and positive emotions to the user.

Overall Experience:  This was my strain of choice this year for enjoying the Winter X-Games.  With the events beginning in the morning, friends and I would partake in a few tokes of Synergy.  We were always careful about dosing--binge smoking this strain turns it into a dreamy, mind-numbing and dumbing stone.  However, when taken in moderation, Synergy is a perfect choice for early imbibing.  Reeking of pineapple and chemical solvent smells, the appeal was heavy--the purple-tinted and trichome-covered flowers helped the case for incredible bag appeal.  I smoked a bowl or two with a friend in the parking lot prior to entering the Aspen winter event.  The flavor is a fruity and floral chemical flavor, very pleasant and enjoyable.  The flavor alone makes the "danger" of overdoing Synergy even more relevant.  However, we stayed true to our limits and entered the event.  The walk to and through security became more interesting and goofy.  Conversations from other event-goers inspired giggles.  The security officer asked if I had been smoking weed because I smelled like it.  Without hesitation, I told him I had, but that I wasn't bringing it into the venue.  After being patted down, I was admitted with a goofy smile on my face.  My friend and I happily bounced around the venue, everything feeling a little bit trippier, dreamier, and funnier than normal.  The effect lasted for several hours, but eventually the average stoner wants another pick-me-up.  Naturally, I would reach for Synergy again, looking for that beautifully happy effect.  However, it was only to be had as the first smoke of the day, particularly in the mornings.  The mood-improvement from Synergy is universal as long as it is the first smoke of the day--Synergy would rarely have much effect on me if it was used as a nightcap or something similar after smoking earlier in the day.  All in all, a delicious and incredibly stinky and unique Chem hybrid.  I look forward to popping more seeds and finding a beautiful, euphoric morning chem phenotype again.

Bodhi Seeds Moonwalk

February 15, 2015 HT/KTP

A hefty harvest of Moonwalk breathing from its jar to cure.

Origin/Backstory:  A cut of Moonwalk was gifted to me from the Modern Cannabist of Modern Genetics, presumably after he pheno-hunted a pack of seeds.  Moonwalk comes from Bodhi Seeds, and is a cross of Chem 3 and a male from the Apollo 11 Genius phenotype line.  Chemdog 3 is a sister of the famous Chemdog D and Chem 4 plants.  She is probably grown and hyped the least of the entire Chemdog family, but her potency should not be underrated.  This sample was grown 100% organically in super soil.  I stupidly did not take cuts as the plant looked incredibly weak in veg.  It could not support itself, and had strange/undesirable growth patterns coupled with sativa leaves.  I was wrong in thinking the genetics were poor.

Appearance:  Finished buds are a golden white hue, glistening and absolutely caked in trichomes.  Pistils are a pale peach color and finish short, close to the bulbous pinecone-shaped buds.  Almost no leaf is present as the plant exhibited an absolutely superb calyx-to-leaf ratio.  Looks like awesome, typical green bud.

Aroma:  Moonwalk's bouquet, though underwhelming in potency, is pleasant, subtle, and most importantly, intriguing.  This lack of intensity is almost a blessing in disguise, as it allows for a profusion of subtleties to shine through.  A jar smells sweet and sour--it is oddly refreshing, yet simultaneously conjures up notes of chemicals and solvents.  Lemongrass immediately comes to mind, as does melon, faint cantaloupe, strong nose of celery and raw carrot, burnt rubber, and a hint of some sour tangy musk.  When a bud is broken up, the Chem 3 lineage becomes more apparent.  Scents identical to chlorine and bleach bring back poolside memories in the dead of winter.  Offensive skunky odors are almost entirely absent. It is truly bizarre, even for those initiated into the Chem family of cannabis.

Flavor:  The flavor of Moonwalk is even better than the scent, and more notable.  Flavors from Chemdog's Sister come through, leaving the incredibly odd sensation of bleach, WD40, Lysol, and rubber immediately on the palate.  The Apollo parentage is hard to detect, but is there if one is looking.  Carrot and celery are common flavors on each toke, with softer flavors of lemon and rosemary evident as well.  Exotic fruit blossom flavors seem to float in the background, hard to grasp or put a finger on.  All in all a very interesting flavor, but soft like the aroma--not at all overwhelming.

Effects:  The aroma tells us nothing of what the experience of consuming Moonwalk entails.  The first hit induces a cerebral floating, and a background sensation that seems to imply more is coming.  Even if a user is already high, a single toke of Moonwalk can be felt and noted.  It begins to settle in, peaking perhaps a full 40 minutes or so after the last toke has been consumed, and fully finished an astonishing 4-6 hours later.  The experience begins as a fully euphoric, laughter-filled, psychedelic trip.  Subtle is the last word I would use to describe it.  It hits so hard and takes one so high up, it is really reminiscent of the first experiences one has with cannabis.  The feeling of being "like the first time" was a phenomenon reported from almost all Moonwalk consumers.  This incredibly lifted feeling becomes more psychedelic as time goes on, and yet paranoia seems to remain a minimum for such a powerful strain.  Most strains in this category can also be described as "racey" and paranoid, but this is not true of Moonwalk.  The user can feel as if they're in a video game or a trip, and yet all seems at ease.  This period of near-psychedelia in turn fades into a deep stone.  It's almost as if the consumer is so exhausted from being so high, they have no option other than meditation or a nap.  A conservative estimate of the consumers who noted this was the strongest flower they had ever consumed would be about 15%.  This included several near-decade smokers.

Overall Experience:  Moonwalk has become legendary among my personal circle with reason.  The potency is unparalleled, and the effect is one so similar to a "first time again" that it is nothing short of amazing.  Moonwalk is aptly named, as it genuinely feels as if you are nearly levitating through time and space, far removed from all things terrestrial.  The power of the Chem 3 and the soaring aspects of Apollo 11 Genius are married beautifully, and kudos of selection go to Modern Cannabist.  Such a beautiful flavor and aroma will delight the connoisseur, but could leave others wanting more in those departments.  I wish I still had my hands on this one, and am currently trying to get it back for a number of breeding projects.  Although, in all honesty, there's not much room for improvement.  Another gem from Bodhi Seeds.

Bodhi Seeds Greedo's Stash

February 3, 2015 HT/KTP
greedostash.jpg

Origins and Backstory:  I popped a pack of 11 bodhi seeds SoCal Master Kush x Snow Lotus.  I got 9/11 to pop as this was my first pack of seeds, ever.  Several were eaten by what I can only assume were mice or rats.  It was heart-wrenching.  However, I ended up with a very stout, very stinky male.  I ended up making seeds with that male, which you can read about here.  In addition to this male, I also had a female.  The female seemed to smell much more refreshing and less spicy in veg.  The growth patterns also seemed to be more branched and vertically-oriented.  She ended up yielding extremely well and seems to be a lovely balance of genetics.  This sample was grown by me personally under 1000W HPS and fed only 100% organic super soil.

Appearance: Large spear and elongated pine-cone type buds packed with frost.  Pistils came out a bright orange.  Leaves were tinged yellow, purple, and maroon as this plant endured sub-40*F weather for over a week.  High bag appeal.

Aroma:  Primarily sweet, perfumey, and very feminine and complex.  This perfumey flower cures out to a masterpiece of Baskin-Robbins birthday cake, candied fruit, Morroccan hashish, and a number of other-wordly accents.  It's easy to imagine this fragrance as a Chanel #5 for high-class aliens.  The discriminating nose notes pink lemonade, cedar, cherry cough syrup, orange creamsicle, hashish, cotton candy/bubblegum, play-doh, and strawberries.  Ginger bread, granola, yogurt, or something else entirely will occasionally rear its head.  The vast bouquet is not limited to these things, but words only grasp at the other depths contained in the aroma.  Deep inhalations from a full jar seems to have an immediate therapeutic effect and puts a calm smile on the user.  A significant percentage of users exclaim "this is the best weed I've ever smelled."  It simply does not smell like weed, but something else entirely. Under blind circumstances, I'd swear the stuff was an extraterrestrial substance as such aromas do not come from earth.

Flavor:  The scent carries over well to taste, but some of the subtle, brighter notes are lost with others gained.  The flavor is predominantly a mixture of gingerbread/vanilla and a spiciness almost identical to Marrakesh marketplace hash. Other strong notes include intensely sweet and exotic fruitiness that thoroughly entertains.  I am generally not a fan of "fruity" strains, but the multiple dimensions of Greedo's Stash seem to change flavor throughout a bowl, and is vastly separated from the generic fruitiness that accompanies so many modern commercial flower samples. I think this would satisfy tropical fruit lovers as well as the "Kush" smokers.  Most people end up smacking their tongues or repeatedly tasting their palates.

Effects:  Almost as soon as the user exhales, a tingling and mild rushing sensation is felt throughout the body.  This is followed with a light-headedness.  Not a dizziness, but the user feels almost as if their head is levitating from their torso rather than being supported by their neck.  A few anxieties are released, translating to a reduction of muscular tension.  Greedo's Stash is much more of a stone than it is a high.  While still euphoric, Greedo's has a relatively quick peak effect.  Greedo's comes on strongly with a few warped thoughts, and is heavy on the giggles, quickly improving one's sense of humor.  This lasts for maybe an hour or two before fading into a deep, mind-numbing stone.  It will settle into a behind-the-eyes, lazy, anxiety-free effect.  The munchies are strong with this one, as is the need for a nap later.

Overall Experience:  Greedo's Stash is an incredibly unique variety of cannabis, which is no surprise coming from Bodhi Seeds.  The aroma is incredibly complex and unprecedented; in nearly a decade of cannabis enthusiasm I have never encountered one like it.  The female alien perfume translates to a hashy flavor which leaves room for the exotic fruit and spice to shine through as well.  Although I would consider Greedo's strong and certainly not lacking in potency, the bouquet and flavor are where she truly shines.  The effect is a quick blast of laughter and relaxed euphoria followed by some intense couch-lock.  Greedo's makes a lovely nightcap, and is good enough to be ran a few times as well as used for breeding stock.
